DAY 1 | PHNOM PENH ( CAMBODIA) ARRIVAL

Upon arrival in the capital city of Phnom Penh, our local guide and driver will welcome and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is for you to relax.

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

 

DAY 2 | PHNOM PENH – CHEUNG EK & TOUL SLENG ( B)

Today you get to learn about the gruesome past of Cambodia in the Khmer Rouge regime. After breakfast at the hotel, you pay a visit to Cheung Ek – a peaceful stretch of green fields that provides a devastating insight into the history of a country torn apart by war. The name of Cheung Ek pertains to the movie “The Killing Fields” which captured much of the carnage and tragedy of Cambodia in the Khmer Rouge regime. Prepare yourself emotionally beforehand as what lies behind the gates of this once tranquil orchard may inflict an incredible sadness.
After tasting local cuisine in a nearby restaurant, continue to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. It used to be a high school prior to 1975 when it was turned into an interrogation prison known as S-21 during the Khmer Rouge era. Today, this prison is open to the public as a genocide museum where they display proof of the crimes against humanity of the Khmer Rouge. Afterward, transfer back to the hotel to relax.

DAY 3 | PHNOM PENH CITY TOUR – FLY TO SIEM REAP ( B )

After having breakfast at the hotel, set out on a memorable city tour to visit :

  • the Royal Place, which is adorned by gold, and the Silver Pagoda, which earns its name from the sparkling floor made up of 5000 silver tiles. The National Museum is also worthy of your time as it displays Khmer art and sculpture.
  • Our driver takes you to the airport for a late afternoon flight to Siem Reap. After arriving in Siem Reap and receiving our warm welcome, you will be transferred to the hotel for check-in and spend the rest of the day at your own leisure.
DAY 4 | SIEM REAP – OUTLYING TEMPLES ( B)

This morning starts with a stop in Hariharalaya – the ancient Khmer civilization site that dates back to the late 9th and early 10th centuries. Famous for its yoga/meditation retreat and small temple ruins scattered here and there, Hariharalaya is like a peaceful oasis that provides an escape from the hustling and bustling life of the city.

You also get a chance to learn about the brutal story taking place during the Pol Pot regime from an old man who was the village chief during the regime. We are back on the road to visit the small yet magnificent Banteay Srei. Having some of the finest stone carvings that are hard to come across anywhere in the world, what this delicate temple lacks in size it manages to make up for in its appearance.
On the way back to Siem Reap we will visit the Banteay Samre Temple. This temple is not only adorned with very intricate and well-preserved carvings of Hindu mythological stories and Buddhist teachings but also has an interesting legend about the cucumber king.

DAY 5 | SIEM REAP – ANGKOR HIGHLIGHTED TEMPLES ( B)

The whole day is dedicated to the splendor of the world-famous Angkor Temple complex.

To avoid the crowd, we will have an early breakfast then make the first stop at the picturesque Ta Prohm – a temple reclaimed by the jungle that has an incredibly exotic appearance.

Its look inspires the makers of “Tomb Raider” and has been made famous by the film ever since, and it is common to come across a playful tourist striking an Angela pose in front of the temple ground.
After that, continue to marvel at the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat – one of the world’s most impressive ruins and also the highlight of today’s trip. The day is full of photo opportunities as we continue to explore the mysterious Royal city Angkor Thom in the afternoon. The majestic temple of Bayon is sure to win your heart with its awesome sight. Not as famous as the Angkor Wat, but when it comes to beauty and uniqueness, Bayon seems to be better in comparison.
The surroundings of the massive complex are worthy of your time as well with a range of striking ancient architecture including the Baphoun, Elephant Terraces, Lepper King Terrace and Royal Place area. Built in the same style as Ta Prohm, Preah Khan temple has fewer tourists but still offers many great photo opportunities and a majestic experience.

DAY 6 | SIEM REAP – VILLAGE WALKING – FLY TO LUANG PRABANG ( B)

In the morning, we take you to a beautiful village in the countryside. Begin your day with a leisure walk through the village houses and watch as the locals rushing through their day. Get to know the people’s daily life and take an authentic look at what life in Cambodian countryside is like. On the way, you can pick some fruits from the trees and enjoy a peaceful view of this wonderful village to relax your mind after a day exploring famous and crowded attractions. Hop on a 30-minute ride on ox-cart passing through the rice paddies to visit a local family as they make rice wine and handicraft works while being offered fresh coconut and some manmade rice wine by the friendly family member.Say goodbye to Cambodia and all its goodness, drive back to the city before going to the airport for a flight to Luang Prabang in the afternoon. Upon your arrival in Luang Prabang, we take you to the hotel for check-in and relax.

DAY 7 | LUANG PRABANG – CITY TOUR & KUANGSI WATERFALL (B)

After breakfast, our guide will take you on an in-depth walking tour of the city.

The walk is oriented towards the lesser-known parts of the town including charming lanes showing the more traditional atmosphere of the heritage town.

Along the way, we will see the four different types of buildings categorized by UNESCO.

The first one is the traditional Lao house which is made from tropical hardwood or bamboo and built on stilts.

The second is a half wood and half cement house built after the arrival of the French.

The third is the traditional French colonial building that are similar to those found in Vietnam and Cambodia.

The last form of architecture you will see is the old Chinese shop houses that were built to be used for both commercial and residential purposes.

In the afternoon, we will visit some famous attractions inside city center including the oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture.

Next, we will visit Heuan Chan, a 19th-century aristocratic mansion that offers a glimpse into Lao culture through traditional ceremonies, textiles, and family life. This restored mansion stands as a testament to Lao heritage, featuring enriching exhibitions and a documentary on Laos’ customs. After the visit, we’ll have the opportunity to taste authentic Lao coffee or tea, providing a true taste of Laos.

We then continue with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts. From there, we walk to the nearby Wat Mai, which is one of Luang Prabang’s largest and most richly decorated temples.

Late afternoon, we will make a stop at Wat Prabath to admire the sunset; this is the ideal place to catch the last beauty of the day.

The tour ends after a visit to the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

DAY 8 | LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVES (B)

Breakfast at the hotel, we will first embark on the leisurely cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, a 16th century cave monastery filled with thousands of Buddha images, which locates 25 Kilometers North of Luang Prabang in the limestone cliffs overlooking the Mekong river.

En route, you will stop at Ban Xang Hai, a well-known village for its traditional Lao rice whisky distilling. You will arrive back in Luang Prabang.

On arrival back in the city, continue our visit to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (closed on Monday) to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures.

We will drive out of the city to visit Ban Xangkhong, the Thai Lue village, which is famous for its arts and crafts. We also visit the nearby village of Ban Xienglek specializing in making the traditional Saa paper.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

DAY 9 | LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI WATERFALLS – TRAIN TO VIENTIANE ( B)

Wake up as the sun rises, we will prepare to join the most sacred tradition of Laos, the daily morning alms giving, which dates to the 14th century. More than 200 Buddhist monks depart from various temple to gather their daily meal from the faithful residents sitting quietly on the streets.

We then visit the temporary morning market near the former Royal Palace which offers a glimpse into daily life, with vendors selling fresh produce, handmade crafts, and textiles. These experiences provide a unique and authentic cultural immersion.

After breakfast at the hotel, we ascend the 329 steps to the top of Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River.

Then transfer directly to the beautiful Kuang Si, which is the biggest waterfall in the Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-metre drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. The pools also make great swimming holes and are very popular with both tourists and locals

There is also the chance to walk to the nearby village of Ban Thapene, and explore the hidden waterfalls, which is rarely visited by other tourists

If you wish, take a short visit to the Bear Rescue Center, which houses a couple of dozen animals rescued from the hands of poachers and traffickers.

Transfer to the train station to take the train to Vientiane. (2 hours)

DAY 10 | VIENTIANE – CITY TOUR – BUDDHA PARK ( B)

In the morning, we will first visit Wat Si Muang, which is very famous for its supernatural power.

After that drive to Buddha Park which takes around 45 minutes away. Also known as Xieng Khuan, this unusual park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues.

Returning to town, visit COPE, an association working to help landmine victims. A visit to the center provides in-depth information about the history of the American/Vietnam war and the lasting impact of unexploded ordinances (UXO) in the area and the efforts underway to clear them.

Start the afternoon with a visit to That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. Constructed by King Setthathirat in the 16th century, the temple is resplendent as the sun is shines upon its towering golden spire.

Then, enjoy a panoramic view over the city as you climb the stairs to the top of Patuxay, Vientiane’s own “Arc de Triomphe”.

Continue down Lane Xang Avenue the serene Wat Sisaket, the only temple left intact after the Siamese (Thai) invasion in 1828.

Continue on to the nearby Wat Phra Keo.  Used as a religious museum, Wat Phra Keo displays a collection of both Lao and Khmer works of art.

End your tour of the capital along the banks of the Mekong River as the sun begins to set. Stroll along the river, stop to enjoy a cold drink, or sample a snack from one of the many local food stalls (your own account)

DAY 11 | VIENTIANE – HANOI ( B)

After having breakfast and some time to relax, we escort you to the airport where you will take your flight to Vietnam.

DAY 12 | HANOI CITY TOUR (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts and the One Pillar Pagoda. Continue on to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Ethnology, Hoan Kiem lake, King Ly Thai To statue and enjoy riding in a rickshaw for 1 hour in the Old quater of Hanoi and its teeming streets filled with fascinating shops. Overnight at Hanoi.

DAY 13 | HANOI – HALONG BAY & OVERNIGHT ON CRUISE (B,L,D)

Breakfast at hotel. Depart for Ha Long city – 170km east of Hanoi. Ha Long Bay has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1994.
Arrive the boat station in Halong, board your junk boat followed by Welcome drink and lunch.
Cruise to explore “the bay of Dragon” with it most typical highlights: Sung Sot cave, Dog islet, fighting cock…. Hiking to Titov island for panorama view of Halong Bay, swming at sandy beach- a favorite place for swim
Later in the afternoon, admire sunset, join cooking class
Dinner on boat, go fishing and relax.  Overnight on cruise

DAY 14 | HALONG BAY - HANOI – FLY TO HUE (B/L)

Breakfast at sunrise. Continue the cruise through the stone forest on the water, row basket boat to Luon grotto Seafood lunch before cruising back to the pier.
After lunch, disembark and return by car to Hanoi. Car may stop on the way for a short break at th workshop – where you can find the traditional products like embroidery, silk clothes and Jewry… made by the disabled children.
16:00 Arrive your hotel Hanoi. In the evening we board the famous. Transfer to the Airport for flight to Hue. Pick up on arrivel and transferhotel in Hue city. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 15 | HUE IMPERIAL CITY TOUR (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Spend you full day to visit the city: the Citadel of Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda, the Royal Tomb of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.  Overnight at Hue.

DAY 16 | HUE - HOI AN ANCIENT TOWN (B)

Breakfast at hotel. We drive up the spectacular Hai Van Pass and down to Hoi An, check in hotel in Hoi An. Discover the charming of Hoi An ancient town by walking to visit a traditional Chinese Communal House, Hoi Kien Temple, ancient Merchants’ Houses, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge & spending time in colorful local market. Evening is free to enjoy in the town by your way. Overnight at hotel in Hoi An.

DAY 17 | HOI AN – MY SON SANCTUARY – HOI AN (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Pick up from your hotel in Hoi An. Before arriving to My Son, stop by Phuoc Kieu Village, a 500 year old village specialized in bronze crafting. Some of the products made by this village are bells, gongs, gong-like music instruments, incense burners, lamp holders, ancient vases, and other bronze musical instruments which are normally used in festivals, ceremonies and daily life. Walk around the interesting alleys, visit a workshop and a temple where locals worship ancestors.

Continue on to the cultural highlight of Central Vietnam, the temple complex at My Son. Granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1999 the tower-temples were the seat of the Champa Kingdom for the majority of its existence between the 4th and 13th centuries. The sanctuary is situated in an impressive location surrounded by hills, around 35 km inland from the coast at Hoi An. Whilst not as spectacular as the great Angkor complexes in Cambodia, the remaining structures are atmospheric enough to conjure images of the majesty of the Champa Kingdom.

Wander through the ruins then visit the small museum at the entrance to My Son before heading back to Hoi An. Overnight at hotel in Hoi An.

DAY 18 | HOI AN - FLY TO HO CHI MINH CITY (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Free at leisure till transfer to Danang airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
Arrive Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Greet at airport & transfer to hotel.
Afternoon: transfer to the main section of the old city, short stop at the classic Post Office, the Catholic Church called Notre Dame De Paris, visit to the former Presidential Palace, then shopping at Binh Tay whole sales market or Ben Thanh market Accommodation at hotel in Hochiminh city .

DAY 19 | HO CHI MINH - CU CHI - TAY NINH (B)

Breakfast at hotels. Morning: we start 2 hours drive to Tay Ninh, the headquarters for the Cao Dai Sect, whose patron saints include Joan of Arc, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill. Attend a midday ceremony at Cao Dai Church.
Afternoon: continue to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels – an amazing network of tunnels which stretched for over 250 kilometers, were three levels deep, give the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life in the American war was like. Late afternoon: return to Ho Chi Minh City. Accommodation at hotel in Hochiminh city

DAY 20 | HO CHI MINH - VINH LONG - MEKONG DELTA (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive southward to Vinh Long – a vivid town of Mekong delta.
Upon arrival, visit some typical workshops, experience daily life of the local residence. Tonight we will be accommodated with a local family in their house on stilts. Mattresses, mosquito nets and pillows are provided. This is a unique opportunity to closely observe life in the Delta.

DAY 21 | VINH LONG - HO CHI MINH DEPARTURE (B/D)

Breakfast at home followed by a boat ride on the Mekong river which will offer you a glimpse into the agrarian life of the vibrant southern Delta region. From your boats, you are able to closely observe the daily rituals of river life and participate in the bustling commerce activities as we buy our fruits from the floating market. Along the way, we will visit an orchard farm, handicraft village, and the land market abundant in colorful fresh fruits and vegetables.
Afternoon: return to Ho Chi Minh city for departure flight.
